Pilgrimages to Lourdes, France

Not long after the discovery of the healing spring waters, it has been told that the first person to be miraculously healed by the water was a woman with a paralyzed hand. Many, many more cures followed and the pilgrimage to Lourdes has not stopped since.

Because so very many ill people come to Lourdes in search of the water known to posess healing properties, the village had to install several hospitals to care for them during their stay.

There are three chapels in Lourdes and a immense and impressive underground basilica where up to 25,000 people can take mass. Processions are led from the basilica to the grotto at night by candlelight. It's an impressive sight. The spring water has been put on tap so people can drink and bottle it. They also stand in line to bathe in it. 17 baths have been built near the grotto.

Going on a religious pilgrimage to one of the most sacred places on earth will be a most joyful and touching experience for you, whether you need healing or not. There is something so amazingly powerful here, you will not leave Lourdes disappointed, but rather, feeling exhilarated and positive about your time on earth.
